Neurogenics Thyroid ClinicLlandudno, North Wales

Still struggling with your thyroid? Let’s find out why.

A functional medicine clinic specialising in hypothyroidism. We test the thyroid fully, and the factors that affect it.

We work alongside your GP. Please don’t change any prescribed medication without speaking to them.

Do these sound familiar?

Low thyroid function affects energy, mood, weight and the way your brain works.

  • Constant tiredness
  • Weight gain
  • Always feeling cold
  • Brain fog
  • Low mood
  • Thinning hair
  • Dry skin
  • Constipation
  • Poor sleep
  • Low motivation

Many people still have these symptoms while on thyroid medication, or after being told their results are normal.

Why standard testing can miss the picture

A standard thyroid blood test usually measures TSH, and sometimes free T4. That shows whether your pituitary gland is signalling the thyroid, but not how well your body is using thyroid hormone.

It doesn’t show how much T4 is being converted into active T3, whether reverse T3 is high, or whether your immune system is attacking the thyroid. And it says nothing about what is driving the problem.

A standard test

  • TSH
  • Sometimes free T4

Our assessment

  • Full thyroid panel, including free T3, reverse T3 and antibodies
  • Nutrient status
  • Blood sugar
  • Adrenal function
  • Gut and liver function

Every patient starts with a baseline

Before any further testing, we build a clear picture of where you are now. It shows which systems are involved and where to start, and gives us a point to measure your progress against.

The Thyroid Profile

A detailed symptom assessment that looks beyond the thyroid. It scores six areas so we can see which systems need attention.

  • Thyroid
  • Gut
  • Liver
  • Blood sugar
  • Adrenal
  • Sex hormones

Functional medicine blood chemistry

A comprehensive blood panel read against functional ranges, not just standard laboratory reference ranges. It can show early changes that a standard reading would pass as normal.

  • Full blood count
  • Thyroid panel
  • Blood sugar
  • Liver and kidney
  • Iron and ferritin
  • Vitamins

Your baseline shows where to start, and lets us measure your progress.

Take the Thyroid Profile

Five factors that affect your thyroid

They often overlap, which is why we look at them together.

Nutritional deficiencies

Your thyroid needs iodine, selenium, zinc, iron, vitamin D and B vitamins to make and activate its hormones.

Blood sugar imbalances

Energy crashes and insulin resistance raise stress hormones that slow thyroid function.

Learn more

Adrenal function

Long-term stress and a disrupted cortisol rhythm suppress the thyroid and slow the activation of its hormones.

Learn more

Gut function

Healthy gut bacteria help activate thyroid hormone, and gut inflammation is linked to thyroid autoimmunity.

Learn more

Liver function

The liver converts much of your T4 into active T3 and clears used hormones. When it struggles, both slow down.

Advanced testing for the whole picture

Once your baseline shows where to look, we can test each contributing factor directly. Results are reviewed with you in a dedicated appointment.
